Sung to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star"

Yet another spin-off of a song in the name of science, by Adrian Liu

Now we come to chem-mist-try,
Fuzzy clouds of negative
Re-arranging location,
Minimizing energy,

Now we come to chem-mist-try,
Based on elec-trici-ty.

When we conserve en-er-gy,
Mr. Hess's Law applies
"Doesn't matter how you go,
Overall enthalpy change,
Never changes, stays the same,
If reactants, and products, are, the same.

When you, decide to, add acid,
To a, base like, "en" "ay" "o" "aytch".
You will, get some, heat produced,
That's an exo-thermic thing,
Water, comes out, as always,
With some, with some, metal salts.

When you want to define lattice enthalpy,
You might like to bear in mind, these little points,
Ions must be gaseous, other states, no thanks,
Compound must be solid, like a nice crystal,
When you want to define lattice enthalpy,
You should also recall, only one mole please.
